Episode 6 recap
Spoilers for this episode follow.
The defenders abandon the tower and use it as a trap before making a stand in the village. Their apparent victory collapses when they discover that some of the enemies they killed were their own people, used as a distraction. The Númenórean cavalry changes the balance of the battle, and Galadriel and Halbrand capture Adar. His account of the Orcs and his history with Sauron puts their victory in a different light.
Ending explained
Waldreg has the real hilt. He turns it in the tower mechanism, releasing water into the network of tunnels and triggering an eruption. The ash cloud turns the fight for the Southlands into a disaster far bigger than the battle.
