Episode 1 recap
Spoilers for this episode follow.
The opening revisits Adar’s rebellion against Sauron and shows how Sauron eventually took the form known as Halbrand. In the present, he makes himself useful to Adar by offering information about his former master. Elrond brings the Three to Círdan rather than trust them. After reconsidering what the rings could do, Círdan returns them to the Elves. In Rhûn, Nori and the Stranger struggle through unfamiliar land and discover that Poppy has followed them.
Ending explained
The Three restore the fading tree in Lindon, strengthening the case for using them even though Elrond remains skeptical. Sauron arrives at Celebrimbor’s gate, where the smith has yet to hear Galadriel’s warning.
