An earthquake damages the Dwarves’ light shafts and leaves them unable to grow enough food. Elrond and Galadriel quarrel about relying on the Three, even as she sees frightening visions about Celebrimbor. In Eregion, Sauron plays on the smith’s wish to help Middle-earth and reveals himself in a radiant new guise. In Rhûn, the Stranger’s attempt to wield power against pursuers separates him from his companions.
Ending explained
Celebrimbor accepts Sauron as Annatar and takes up the project of making more rings. The deception works because it offers Celebrimbor a solution to a genuine crisis.
